As our cities transform under the weight of wars, environmental changes, technological advancements, and shifting social dynamics, so do our individual and collective identities. These transformations are the heartbeat of Urban Canvas, a collective hybrid exhibition curated by Dr. Pamela Chrabieh at Kulturnest and in the metaverse, from September 20 to November 20, 2024. This exhibition brings together 22 artists who navigate the complexities of urban life, each through their unique lens and artistic expression.

Exploring the Theme: Shifting Tides, Shifting Identities

The exhibition delves into how urban environments, constantly in flux, shape and reshape the identities of those who inhabit them. It explores themes of war, crisis, environmental change, migration, gender fluidity, consumerism, technological advancements, and public memory. Each sub-theme is a response to the pressing challenges and transformations that cities and their people face today.

The Artworks: A Mosaic of Perspectives

Urban Canvas presents a rich tapestry of artworks that span various media and techniques, from traditional painting and sculpture to digital art, photography, and mixed media installations. The exhibition showcases diverse narratives, each reflecting the artists’ personal and cultural experiences, as well as their observations of the urban landscapes they inhabit or observe.

The Artists: A Celebration of Diversity

Urban Canvas is a celebration of diversity, featuring 22 artists from various backgrounds, nationalities, genders, and experiences. The exhibition showcases the work of both emerging and established artists, each bringing their unique perspective to the theme of urban identity. The participating artists are:

The exhibition is a unique opportunity to experience the diverse voices of 22 artists and to engage with the themes that shape our urban lives. In a world of uncertainty, Urban Canvas stands as a beacon of resilience, creativity, and hope.

The exhibition is open to the public from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 11 AM to 7 PM, from September 21 to November 20, 2024. Free entrance.
